ON THE ISSUES:

City Development - “Our policies and ordinances governing development should be clear, fair, and consistent.  We should support neighborhood stability while we recognize that job opportunities and low taxes are founded on balanced growth.”

Property Taxes - “Property tax increases are a poor substitute for policies, initiatives, and efficient services that consistently support the long-term future of Asheville.  We must be considerate and restrained as we spend other people’s money and work to maximize our efficient use of existing resources.”

Water Agreements - “We operate under an agreement that uniquely forces Asheville residents to subsidize non-city users.  There is a point of fact, fairness, and legality that is not found in the state laws recently passed against our City.  We should not surrender to pressures or insincere negotiations to buy peace without fair consideration for the tax burden of Asheville citizens.”

I-240 Connector - “A final decision on the best lane configuration should be founded in facts over pressures, personal preferences, or political considerations.  I will support 6 or 8 lanes based on what the final facts say is best for the long-term future of all those who live and work in Asheville and surrounding communities.”

Civic Center - “We need assigned leadership responsibility for improving or replacing our Civic Center.  Our final decision should be based in a plan that is supportable, affordable, and realistic to the longer term needs of a community our size.”

Hard Drugs - “There issue causes harm to every adult, child, family, school, neighborhood, church, and business in Asheville.  We must be relentless in resisting those who prey upon our children and neighborhoods by trafficking in hard drugs.”

“We must be responsible, fair, and restrained as we spend other people’s money…”

Good jobs are our best social service.

Basic City services should be priority one.

Consistent and fair policies support a strong economy.

We should be careful with Citizen and Taxpayer money.

There should be only one special interest group – the Citizens of Asheville.

“City government serves us best when it acts as an accountable, efficient, and consistent community resource.”

Please remember to get out and vote in the October 11th Primary

and in the November 8th General Election.
